Stretch mark avoidance advice

Stretch marks occur in many pregnant and post natal women but there are ways to lessen their impact and in some cases avoid them altogether.American alternative medicine company Healing Natural Oils has recently released a number of hints and tips to keep the stretch marks at bay.Firstly, mothers-to-be can help avoid the appearance of stretch marks by trying to limit the amount of weight they put on during the pregnancy. Anywhere between 25-35lbs is a normal amount to put on, provided it happens gradually. Boosting circulation around the skin is also thought to prevent stretch marks, so take a cloth or flannel and firmly pass it over thighs, tummy and anywhere else likely to become stretched in circular motions. For the prenatal diet, try eating foods rich in zinc such as nuts and fish, as well as those rich in vitamins A, C & D such as carrots, citrus fruits. Milk and foods rich in protein are also good for your overall health, as is drinking plenty of water. Finally, Healing Natural Oils recommends keeping your skin well moisturised from the first trimester until well after you have given birth and returned to your pre-pregnancy weight. Using oils or creams which are specifically targeted at stretch mark prevention are good because they are designed to encourage increased collagen production and support the dermis, helping keep the skin intact despite all the stretching.
